Type 2 Diabetes – Pesticides Have Been Found to Raise The Risk of Diabetes

Scientists at Naresuan University in Thailand have found a link between poisons used in farming and Type 2 diabetes. Their work was reported on in the journal Environmental Health and Prevention Medicine in January of 2018. The researchers compared lifetime pesticide exposure in 866 people who had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes with 1021 nondiabetic individuals. The diabetes cases were linked with exposure to all types of pesticides.

In January of 2018, the online journal PLOS ONE reported on the Yokohama study, showing sleep quality was poor in people with Type 2 diabetes who had poor blood sugar control.

Type 2 Diabetes – Is Hearing Loss More Common in People With Diabetes?

In January of 2018, the journal Acta Otolaryngology reported on a study of hearing in people who had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Scientists at the Capital Medical University in Beijing, China found having prediabetes or full-blown Type 2 diabetes can raise the risk of hearing problems. They studied 51 people who had diabetes, 55 with prediabetes, and 43 healthy participants. The researchers performed hearing tests on all the participants and used a medical history questionnaire to learn which of the participants suffered ringing in their ears.
