Type 2 Diabetes – Light Brightness Affects Blood Sugar and Fat Levels
According to the Journal of Biological Rhythms, April 2017, the amount of light we see in the morning can affect our blood sugar and fat levels. Scientists at the University of Amsterdam and several other research institutions in the Netherlands compared Type 2 diabetic men with non-diabetic men exposed to either dim or bright light at 0730. Eight lean, healthy men and eight males who had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes were exposed to either 4000 lux or 10 lux of light for an hour. Each participant was given a 600 calorie breakfast.
Type 2 Diabetes – The Best Time to Eat CarbohydratesSometimes it may seem like there is too much fuss about carbohydrates. Rarely, if ever, are they neglected in a diet or nutrition conversation? But is their importance overstated? And just how accurate is the information spread about carbohydrates? These are profound questions beyond the scope of this discussion. That said, we will touch on these topics indirectly as we talk about timing and consumption of carbohydrates. Type 2 diabetics are aware their carbohydrate intake has an effect on their body’s blood sugar. Which leads us to our first point: carbohydrates need not be totally avoided, because they are not altogether harmful.
6 Symptoms Of DiabetesThe Center for Disease Control(CDC) reports that there are over 30 million Americans living with diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes – Can Natural Products Be Used To Help Manage Diabetes Symptoms? One important way to discover whether a product works is to study how it works. If a mechanism can be defined, then we have good evidence the treatment is effective. In May 2017, the journal Current Diabetes Review reported on a study on natural products for treating Type 2 diabetes. Investigators at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Florianopolis, Brazil reviewed all the articles they could find concerning scientific testing of molecules from plant species purported to be therapeutic against Type 2 diabetes. The following molecules reportedly have anti-diabetic activity with defined ways of working.

Type 2 Diabetes – High Blood Sugar and Certain Bacteria Increase the Risk of Benign Colon TumorsA species of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori is linked to a high danger of developing stomach ulcers and benign tumors of the colon. Type 2 diabetes is also a known risk factor for benign colonic tumors. Scientists in Taiwan found having both risk factors puts people at an even higher risk of developing the tumors than either factor alone. The increased risk seen in both health problems at one time is greater than a mere addition to both risks. Researchers term this a synergistic effect.
